The Hubble Telescope helps produce some of the most amazing images know to us humans. A way for us to see into this indescribable, vast and mysterious universe that we live in. A way for us humans to maybe start understanding our own existence. It also makes space feel a little less enormous, maybe a little more comprehensible. And one can not stop to be amazed by the beauty of these images.
In what ways do we consume these images today? Mostly online, as a screen saver, maybe printed as a poster, which is great. But I wanted to find another purpose and use for these beautiful images, something that would give them more attention off grid, and to perhaps give them a greater value in the analogue.
I chose to create a physical magazine with these images in focus, combining them with interesting articles and content. Also making the consumption of these images available off grid. The idea is that the magazine publishes all the new images in the year, adding to them interesting stories of how they were discovered and eternalised. But also interviews, articles on new finds, event calendars, perforated fold-outs and blueprints that you can rip out and put in a frame. Printed on thick coated paper with black edges, to make the feel compact and dense. Just like space.
